Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has backed the club’s transfer policy claiming it is the right way to go.
The Gunners have been criticized in recent seasons for their failure to spend in the transfer market but Cech believes the club’s approach doesn’t deserve criticism.
With the 2016/2017 season few weeks away, some fans are already worried that the club is lagging behind its rivals in the transfer market but Cech said the club has to buy what it needs and not just because others are buying.
Cech said: “I think you need to be buying players you need. You need to buy players that will improve the team and not just for buying sake.
“That’s the philosophy of the club. I’ve been here since last season and you can see that every time we bring in a player, it’s a player we need and the manager believes he improves the team.
“There is a core of the players who have been at Arsenal for years, and they know that is an advantage as well. People get to know each other, how to play together.
“[Xhaka] had been brilliant with Basel, he had been brilliant with Gladbach, so we bought a complete player who definitely improves our squad, and hopefully he will prove that on the pitch.”
Wenger is currently working on signing a centre defender and a striker with Shkodran Mustafi and Alexandre Lacazette top of the French man’s wishlist.
