Arsenal’s Theo Walcott has revealed the squad gathered for talk after the team’s 2-1 defeat to Swansea last Wednesday.
The defeat saw us fail to close the gap between ourselves and Leicester City and Walcott revealed that the player’s questioned their desire to win the league after the game.
It is claimed that the players vowed to do all they can to win the league while it is still mathematically possible and Walcott has stressed the importance of the meeting.
“We are not going to lie – we know as a unit it has been tough,” he said, as quoted by the Express.
“We all had a good chat among ourselves behind closed doors, without even any of the coaches or the manager knowing about anything.
“It’s important to know that, as a team, we have got it in us and we just have to produce it more often.
“You had a sense of the Tottenham game especially, when you go down to 10 men in a big game like that; the belief and the character was there.
“The never-give-up spirit was there as well. In the derby matches, they could be the matches that turn your season and we may have turned the corner maybe.”
Arsenal will return to league action against Everton on 19th March but before then we will have to tackle Watford in this weekend’s FA cup encounter.
