Everton are interested in signing Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina, according to reports.
The goalkeeper has been reliable and superb since moving to the Emirates in the summer of 2014, Ospina received praises in his first season at the club after he forced then first choice Wojciech Szczesny to the bench. Despite his superb performances last season, Wenger couldn’t resist the opportunity to sign Petr Cech last summer.
The arrival of the Czech republic international forced Ospina to the bench limiting him to just 4 Premier league starts this season which has resulted in persistent reports linking the Colombian international with a move away from the club.
And now, according to FootballFancast, Everton are interested in signing Ospina. The Merseysiders are set to lose their first choice goalie Tim Howard this summer and are now keeping an eye on Ospina as his replacement.
In January, Roberto Martinez was rumoured to be preparing a summer move for Wojciech Szczesny but this report claims Martinez is a fan of Ospina and is prepared to offer the Colombian a chance to play regular football at the Goodison park.
Ospina himself could be open to a move after revealing last month that he will reconsider his future in the summer.
He said: “Since Petr joined we have built a good friendship.
“However, we are still competing for the spot.
“I don’t want to think about the summer. I’m focused on the present and my present is Arsenal.
“We will see how this season ends, then we will see what happens with my future.”
