French Ligue 1 side Olympic Lyon are keen on signing Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy this summer, according to reports.

The defender recently completed his loan spell at FC Bordeaux and he is expected to push for a permanent move away from the Emirates this summer.

According to France Football via Sports Mole, Lyon are the favourites to sign the defender this summer.

The report also added that Arsenal are keen to offload the French international despite the defender having three more years left in his contract with the club.

Debuchy is said to have strained his relationship with Wenger after he took a swipe at the manager shortly after completing his move to Bordeaux. Speaking to Canal+ in February, Debuchy said:

“Yes, I’m a little bit annoyed with him [Wenger]. It’s his choice.”

“I came back well in the summer, I had a good pre-season,” he added.

“I was able to talk to him to know my future at Arsenal. He said that I would have game time and that we would discuss it in December. Unfortunately, I didn’t have this game time.”

Debuchy joined Arsenal from Newcastle in 2014 for about £12m and failed to make an impact in the squad due to injuries and the superb form of Hector Bellerin.
