Arsenal have renewed its interest in Celtic forward Moussa Dembele, according to reports.
The Gunners were interested in signing the French international when he was at Fulham but missed out on his services after he opted to join Celtic in the summer.
The striker has started brightly at Celtic and his performances has brought him under the radar of many big clubs again.
The forward scored two goals in Celtic’s Champions League game against Manchester City, taking his tally to seven in all competitions this season.
According to the Sun via Ibtimes UK, Arsenal have renewed its interest in signing the striker and are now watching him again with keen interest.
However the Gunners are not alone in the race to sign the French international this time as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on his performances.
Celtic Boss Bredan Rodgers has backed Dembele to develop into a great striker and even compared him with Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.
“There’s no doubt. I worked with Didier Drogba at Chelsea and I think he’s of that ilk,” Rodgers was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail .
“Moussa is still young. Didier came into Chelsea at 24 or something like that. This boy’s just turned 20.
“He’s still a baby, but he’s tough. You can see on nights such as Wednesday that he is a big reference for the team.
“What I see in Moussa is that he’s a big-game player. He really comes alive in the big games.
“He has a belief. I think he said he wanted to be the world’s best player when he came in and so we shall see. He is making nice strides, isn’t he?
“There is still a way to go for him. I think he is a boy who can get to the top but there are some things to work upon yet.”
Arsenal have made signing talented young players one of its future priorities and should Dembele continue to impress at Celtic, we wouldn’t be surprised if he is continually linked with the club.
Judging the striker by his performance this season, he has the potential to succeed on the big stage but whether that will be at Arsenal is something we’ll have to wait to find out.
