Arsenal have made an offer to sign Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez, according to reports.
Wenger is in the market for a new winger and has been pursuing a deal for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar since the beginning of the transfer window. However, the French giants are playing hardball, insisting they don’t want to sell.
Should reports emanating from Spain be true, it means Wenger is keeping an eye on alternative targets and could pursue a move for Vazquez if the opportunity arises.
According to Don Balon via the Express, Vazquez could decide to leave Madrid if they sign Kylian Mbappe.
This is where Arsenal comes in, the report claims Vazquez already has an offer on the table from Arsenal and the Emirates is a possible destination if he decides to leave Madrid.
Real do not wish to sell Vazquez and the player is not thinking of an exit just yet but the report claims things could change if Mbappe moves to the Benabeu.
The Spaniard who started just 12 La Liga games last season wants to be playing regularly so he can stand a chance of making Spain’s world cup squad and he is aware that the arrival of a marquee signing will complicate things for him.
While it could be true that Vazquez wants to play regularly just like every footballer, I don’t think there’s any chance he will be leaving Madrid this summer. He is highly rated at the Bernabeu and is expected to feature more for them next season.
