Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Arsenal are interested in signing Borussia Mochengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka, according to the Daily Mail.
The Daily Mail claims the Gunners have been watching Xhaka for quite sometime and the Gunners are set to table a bid for the midfielder in Janaury.
The Gunners are somewhat in a midfield crisis and they are currently in search of a midfielder after losing Francis Coquelin and Mikel Arteta to injuries. With Jack Wilshere also injured, the Gunners only have Matthieu Flamini and Calum Chambers as a make shift defensive midfielder. With the Gunners set to face Barcelona in mid February, it is claimed that Wenger has stepped up the search for a defensive midfielder and could move for the Borussia Monchengladbach man in January.
The Gunners are set to face competition from Bayern Munich and Liverpool.
However, the midfielder has claimed he is happy at his current club and he is keen to see out his contract that expires in 2019. Speaking to Skysports Deutschland
“I am under contract until 2019 here and I am really enjoying life at the club, He said
“This is all that matters to me, for the rest I have got my advisor and my father!”
Xhaka has played 14 games for the Bundesliga outfit this season and is a prominent member of Mochengladbach’s squad.
