Arsenal are prioritising signing a central midfielder this summer, with the future of Jack Wilshere looking uncertain, according to the Telegraph.
The 26-year old is out of contract this summer and while the Gunners want to keep him, amid a string of improved performances, the midfielder isn’t happy with the proposed terms Arsenal have offered.
Everton are seemingly favourites to sign Wilshere, with Morgan Schneiderlin’s future on Merseyside looking uncertain.
As such, Arsenal are weighing up options in that position, and Sven Mislintat’s scouting department is prioritising strengthening the club’s spine. With Aaron Ramsey also having not yet signed a new long-term deal, and with Santi Cazorla’s entire career up in the air, a central player is crucial.
Schalke’s Max Meyer is seen as one possible option, with the 22-year old German out of contract this summer. Liverpool are also interested in the promising midfielder.
Wilshere’s issue with the contract lie in a relatively large wage cut, despite a number of potential appearance based add-ons, made in part because of Wilshere unpredictable injury record.
