Atletico Madrid will revive their interest in Chelsea striker Diego Costa if Antoine Griezmann joins Manchester United, reports say.
The France international has been heavily linked with a summer move to Manchester United and Arsenal, with key details including his salary and squad number already reportedly agreed with the Red Devils after months of negotiations.
Atletico boss Diego Simeone has also insisted he won’t stand in Griezmann’s way should he want to join United in a deal that would potentially cost the Premier League club a world record fee.
An issue for United, however, is that Atletico currently face a transfer ban and are unsure whether they will be cleared to complete summer business by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
But if they are, the Independent say the La Liga outfit will target Costa as a potential replacement for 25-year-old Griezmann.
Costa’s future at Stamford Bridge has been up in the air following a reported row with boss Antonio Conte and medical staff at Chelsea.
The 28-year-old has been linked with a lucrative move to the Chinese Super League but a return to Atletico, where he spent four years before joining Chelsea, could be appealing.
