Arsenal are reportedly hoping to beat Manchester United to the signing of Feyenoord striker Joshua Zirkzee
The 16-year-old “goal machine” is regarded as one of Holland’s brightest young talents.
He scored an impressive 33 goals in 27 games for the Dutch club’s academy ranks last season.
Feyenoord want to promote Zirkzee to their Under-19’s next season following his impressive displays.
But the Holland Under-16 international is apparently considering his future.
And The Daily Mail say Arsenal and Manchester United are ready to swoop.
It is said Ajax have already failed in their attempts to lure Zirkzee to their academy, but he is apparently keen on a move to England.
Arsene Wenger is renowned for nurturing young talent and bringing the best out of them.
While Manchester United boss Mourinho is keen to bring in stars of the future to strengthen the club academy ranks.
But The Daily Mail say Arsenal are the front-runners for his signature.
Wenger has already bolstered his attacking ranks with the club-record signing of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.
But with Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Lucas Perez likely to leave he could be in desperate need of reinforcements.
Zirkzee will most likely kick start life in Arsenal’s academy ranks if he signs.
But he could be awarded with the chance to gain first-team minutes in the next few seasons with Wenger always willing to give his youngsters a chance to shine.
Zirkzee has made four appearances for his country’s under-16’s side and has scored one goal.
