Despite the recent close of the transfer window, Arsene Wenger already has his plans in place about potential summer targets. Two players high on his priority list are Leicester City’s left back Ben Chilwell and Fulham winger Ryan Sessegnon.
Reports had emerged claiming the gaffer tried to recruit both players in the January transfer window but had both offers rebuffed by their respective clubs.
The Mirror reported that Wenger tried to land Sessegnon after the Cottagers had contacted the Gunners about taking winger Serge Gnabry on loan till the end of the season. Wenger desire to see the 16-year-old head to the Emirates in the opposite direction lead to a breakdown in talks on deadline day.
Various reports during the winter window had also claimed the Gunners had a second bid turned down by table toppers Leicester for Chilwell.
It was reported that a £3.5 million bid in the summer was followed up £4million in January by the Gunners, but both offers were turned down as the Foxes are keen to keep the future star and have even offered the youngster an extension with just 17 months left to run on his current contract. The youngster is however yet to put pen to paper on the improved contract.
With Wenger’s coffers set to be boosted by the bumper new TV deal which comes into effect next year, the Daily Star reports that Wenger is plotting a double swoop for the talented pair in the summer.
