Arsenal are interested in signing Raphael Guerreiro from Lorient, according to reports.

Guerreiro is a left back by trade but can also be deployed on the left wing, he has been impressive for the French Ligue 1 side this term attracting Wenger’s interest in the process.

According to Le 10 Sport via the Metro, Arsenal have been following the defender’s progress for a long time and could now follow up with a concrete offer this summer.

Arsenal’s left back Kieran Gibbs is reportedly ready to leave the Emirates this summer and the club could sign Guerreiro as his replacement.

Wenger is known for having a good scouting network in France and has been able to lure a number of players like Samir Nasri, Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny from France to the Emirates.

It is believed that Wenger’s relationship with Koscielny could help lure the left back to the Emirates as Guerreiro is a good friend of the Gunner’s center back.

Liverpool are also interested in the left back, the Merseysiders tried to sign the defender in the winter transfer window and could rival Wenger for his services.

Guerreiro already has 10 goals in 98 games for the Frech club.
