Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the
second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Arsenal are reportedly set to land young Barcelona prodigy as Francis Coquelin’s replacement.
According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners are set to swoop for talented Barcelona defensive midfielder Sergi Samperin January.
Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on finding a replacement for injured Francis Coquelin who has been ruled till the rest of the season.
Arsenal are reported to be keen on completing the transfer of the youngster, with the Gunners ready to meet the midfielder’s £8.5million release clause in an attempt to bring him to London.
Samper who is a product of Barca’s La Masia academy, is also reportedly keen on making the switch to north London, following the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Hector Bellerin and Jon Toral who swapped Nou Camp for the Emirates Stadium.
The 20-year-old is a highly rated defensive midfielder star, and should a deal to sign him materialise in winter, he would feature as a cover to Francis Coquelin.
However, the report says Barcelona prefer a loan deal rather than an outright buyout, but given the long line of midfielders ahead of him in the Camp Nou pecking order, Samper is seriously considering Arsenal’s offer, having grown frustrated playing for Barcelona’s B team.
