After a scintillating performance by the Gooners in their midweek match against Turkish side Galatasaray, Arsene Wenger and his men play host to “giant-slayers” Newcastle United on Saturday in the Premier League’s evening time kick-off.
45 minutes of world class display from the Gooners in Turkey Tuesday night was enough to dismantle a Galatasaray side with nothing to play for. The match saw both Lukas Podolski and man of the match winner; Aaron Ramsey picking up braces each for themselves and leaving Instabul with a 4-1 victory after Wesley Sneijder pulled one back for the Host.
Arsene Wenger and his men will be going into the match against Alan Pardew’s side with a bit of confidence, coming on the back of the midweek thrashing of Hamza Hamzaoglu men.
But the Gooners certainly wont be the only ones brewing with confidence as Newcastle last weekend’s heroics against League Leaders Chelsea still remains fresh in the minds of many with several Arsenal followers thankful to the side for halting Jose Mourinho’s unbeaten League run.
The Newcastle boss will be looking to break the tie between the both teams and move ahead of Arsenal on the League table. With the Gooners currently edging the Magpies on goal difference with the two side level with 23 points each.
Wenger however, needing a win against the Toons is still left worried with the increasing number of injuries to his side with recent reports according to Arsenal’s official website revealing four more Arsenal stars (Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal, Aaron Ramsey and Calum Chambers) that are confirmed out for this weekend’s clash with three of the four out due to injuries while Chambers is suspended.
Despite the increasing number of players on the sidelines for us, here is how Wenger is expected to line-up his side.
