Arsenal are set to double Hector Bellerin’s wages so as to keep him away from Manchester City and Barcelona, according to reports.
Bellerin has developed into one of our best players since breaking into the team in 2013 and his performances have attracted the two heavyweights. They both made attempts to sign him in the summer transfer window and as expected, we turned them down.
Reports are still claiming both clubs will return for the defender next summer and in a bid to crush their hopes, we are preparing to offer the defender a new deal.
According to The Sun via Football Insider, Bellerin is currently on a £50,000 a week salary and we are willing to offer him a new deal worth £96,000 a week.
The new deal will reflect the youngster’s importance to our team after he has developed into one of the best right backs in the world.
Bellerin’s contract doesn’t run out until 2019 and the interests in him aside, the defender deserves a new deal. He has played every league game for us this season and that shows how important he has become and it is only right we make same financial commitment to him.
We are hopeful the defender will sign the new deal as he revealed in the summer that he is happy with us and wants to stay here for a long time.
