Arsenal’s First January Signing Flies Into London To Complete Surprise Move

Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.

Arsenal are set to complete a move for FC Basel’s defensive midfielder Mohamed Elneny as the player flies in to London to sign on the dotted line, according to the Metro.

It was revealed last week that the Gunners have agreed a fee of £5m for the Egyptian international and the Daily Mirror now claims the player is flying into London this week to complete a move to the Emirates.

The Gunners are currently short in the middle of the pitch after injuries to Santi Carzola, Francis Coquelin, Mikel Arteta. Wenger had previously admitted that he’d have to act in the January transfer window. The French man is now set to do so by moving swiftly for Basel’s Elneny.

Negotiations between the Swiss club and Arsenal are already in advanced stage and the 23 year old has been given the permission to jet in to London as Arsenal look to complete the deal early.

The midfielder had a medical on Saturday and he is now free to complete a move to the Emirates, according to inside football.

Elneny featured in over 90 league appearances for Basel and scored 5 goals since moving to the Swiss club in 2013.
