Arsenal have put Ozil and Sanchez’s contract talks on hold until the summer, Wenger has revealed.
The duo’s contract expires at the end of next season and have been in talks with the club over a new deal since August. No agreement has been reached with either of the players and they’ve both been linked with moves away from the Emirates
Despite the difficulty in reaching an agreement and speculations about their futures, Arsenal are determined to keep the duo.
Wenger has now revealed the club will reopen talks with both players in the summer.
“At the moment we do not have an agreement,” Wenger told beIN Sports, as quoted by Goal.
“We’ve decided to focus on the end of the season and talk about it during the summer
“It’s the same situation with Ozil because, when once you don’t find an agreement and it lasts, it’s not good for them, so it’s better you get it out and sit down during the summer.”
Sanchez and Ozil have been key players for Arsenal since they joined in 2014 and 2013 respectively. However, Sanchez has been our most influential player this season with 22 goals and 15 assists in all competitions this season while Ozil who has struggled with form and consistency has scored 9 goals and 8 assists in 31 games this term.
With Arsenal preparing to carry out a major overhaul of its squad this summer, keeping the duo will be the first step in the revamp process.
