Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has ruled out the signing of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, according to reports.
The Gunners were interested in signing the French striker last summer but ended up missing out on the 27 year old as Real Madrid decided against selling the striker, as per goal.com
However, reports resurfaced recently that Arsenal are looking to renew their interest in the former Lyon striker when the transfer window opens in January But Wenger has dismissed those rumors and stated he is not interested in signing Benzema.
“I just said that Olivier Giroud is a great striker, so behind that we cannot buy Karim Benzema!”
Olivier Giroud has been in superb form for the Gunners this season, the 29 year old joined the Gunners in 2012 after a wonderful season at Montpellier. He single handedly delivered for Arsenal against Olympiakos last week as he helped his team reach the last 16 of the champions league. Also, the striker recently became the third striker to reach 50 premier league goals for Arsenal behind Thierry Henry and Ian Wright. His Performaces for the Gunners this term have caused Arsene Wenger to rule out a move for Benzema.
Giroud scored his 50th goal for Arsenal yesterday against Aston Villa in his 113th appearance for the club.
