Arsene Wenger Hoping Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Gets His Self-Confidence Back

After a disappointing second place finish to Leicester City last year, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who is in the final year of his contract, knows that he is in the hot seat, and if the Gunners don’t perform this year, he might be managing another team next season.

With that in mind, Wenger is doing everything he can to make sure his team is ready to compete for the Premier League title this year. The latest soccer lines have Arsenal as one of the favorites to win the title this year, but the team has been favored to do so a number of times and failed to do so.

One of the issues Arsenal fans have had over the years is the fact that the club has refused to spend a lot of money bringing big name players to the club, instead opting to promote players from their youth club.

While some of the promoted players have panned out for the club, it hasn’t resulted in the team winning the league title.

The Gunners have one of the most talented midfields in the Premier League, which is something the club can use to its advantage if it decides to sell a couple of its talented midfielders to help address other issues the club has.

One of the biggest issues Arsenal had last year was the lack of depth at the forward position. After the season was over, Arsenal could have tried to sign talented forwards like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who left PSG to play for Manchester United, but the club didn’t think it was worth paying a lot of money for an aging player.

Instead, the club is hoping Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will become the player they believe he can be. Arsene Wenger told reporters that he believes the young forward has all the tools to be one of the best forwards in the game, but he currently lacks confidence, which is a very important trait for players at the position.

Wenger said he told the forward that he needs to believe in himself if he wants to reach his full potential, which is something the club is hoping for this season.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who missed the Euro 2016 tournament because of a knee injury is finally fully recovered from the injury and has started practicing with the team. The forward scored his first goal since the injury during Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over Chivas de Guadalajara during their preseason tour in the United States.

After the game, Wenger challenged Oxlade-Chamberlain to realize his potential this upcoming season.

Wenger told the club’s website that this is an important season for Oxlade-Chamberlain. The manager added that because the forward was injured, he is cautious with him, but he looks to be getting better each game he plays, which Wenger said is good to see.

Oxlade-Chamberlain had been injured since February during a 2-0 home loss to Barcelona during the Champions League. His recovery has been faster than anticipated, which is why Wenger is excited about the forward being ready when the season begins.

However, Wenger is hoping the forward can get his self-confidence back by the time the season begins, which will be a big boost for the team’s offense.
