Arsene Wenger is unsure whether Mesut Ozil will be available when Arsenal face Atletico Madrid on Thursday night.
Ozil has experienced mixed form this season but reiterated his commitment to the Gunners cause by signing a new deal in January.
The playmaker sat out of Sunday afternoon’s 4-1 win over West Ham though and that has put his involvement against Atletico in doubt.
Speaking after the victory over the Hammers, departing Arsenal boss Wenger provided an update about Ozil.
And he also revealed the likelihood of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jack Wilshere being fit for the first leg of their Europa League semi-finals tie with Atletico.
“Jack had a training session today and he looked positive so he has a good chance to be available for Thursday,” said Arsene Wenger.
“Ozil was sickness [flu] so I cannot tell you much more about that. We will have to see how he recovers tomorrow [Monday].
“But Mkhitaryan won’t be available on Thursday.”
The Europa League is Arsenal’s only hope of securing silverware this season.
And Wenger will be eager to go out on a high having announced his impending departure last Friday.
The veteran Frenchman has so far won 10 trophies with Arsenal, including three Premier League titles.
