Henrikh Mkhitaryan is one of three players who could miss Thursday night’s Europa League semi-final second leg after picking up an injury against Manchester United.

The Armenia international returned to the starting lineup on Sunday for the first time in six weeks following a knee injury and marked his return with a goal against his former club.

But he was forced off midway through the second half of Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford after picking up a knock to the same knee.

Arsene Wenger has now revealed that Mkhitaryan will be assessed closely during the next couple of days before a decision is made as to whether he can fly out to Spain with the rest of the squad on Wednesday.

There are also doubts over Alex Iwobi and David Ospina, who both finished the match against United with injuries.

Wenger said: “Mkhitatryan I took off because he had a little knock on his knee again, the same thing, just looking at him in the dressing room.

“Ospina has a rib problem and Alex Iwobi has a hamstring problem.

“We’ll see how everyone recovers because Thursday will come around very quickly.”

When asked if any of the three were definitely out of Thursday night’s game against Atletico Madrid, which is evenly poised at 1-1 after the first leg in north London, Wenger added: “Definitely at the moment no.

“But we will have to monitor them in the next 48 hours. We will know more on Tuesday.”
