Arsenal have been handed a massive blow in their bid to land sensational England U21 international Callum Wilson in January after the striker suffered a major injury last weekend.
According to reports, AFC Bournemouth will be without Callum Wilson for a minimum of six months after scans confirmed the striker has suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.
Wilson sustained the injury to his right knee during last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at Stoke City’s Britannia Stadium and will undergo surgery next week.
The 23-year-old forward had enjoyed a flying start to his debut Premier League season, scoring five times in seven games – including a hat-trick when the newly promoted side secured their maiden win 4-3 at West Ham.
Reports making the rounds suggest Arsenal have continued to monitor Wilson’s progress after the Gunners registered their interest for the striker in the summer.
However, a move by Arsenal for the striker in January will look uncertain now following his latest long-term injury.
