Arsenal’s forward Joel Campbell is set to leave the Emirates this summer, according to reports.
Wenger is preparing to undertake a major overhaul in the squad this summer and Campbell is set to be a casualty of Wenger’s plans.
According to Spanish Outlet Estadio Deportivo via Football Insider Arsene Wenger has told Campbell to find a new club.
This report has come with mixed reactions among Arsenal fans with some section sad over the lack of opportunity given to the Costa Rican star to prove his worth at the Emirates.
The report claims the forward has no choice but to leave the Emirates after failing to live up to his potential since moving to the club.
Campbell has been on many club’s Radar since his impressive display at the 2014 world cup and it is claimed Valencia are currently leading the race to sign the forward.
Arsene Wenger has primarily deployed the 23 year old on the wings but he is also capable of playing as a centre forward and would be a big asset for any club.
Since Campbell joined Arsenal in 2011, he has been on loan at Lorient, Real Betis, Olympiacos and Villareal. He made his Premier League debut for Arsenal in August 2014 against Everton and has made 40 appearances for the club since then.
In my opinion, it would be better keeping Campbell in the squad next season as the forward impressed when called upon last term. He would definitely provide quality squad depth if allowed to stay at the club.
