Manchester United are set to join the race to sign Thomas Lemar, according to the Daily Record via the Daily Cannon.
Arsenal has been working on a deal to sign Lemar all summer but Monaco are reluctant to lose their star man.
They have so far frustrated Arsenal’s attempt to sign the winger and Wenger is gradually beginning to lose hope of securing a deal before the transfer window closes.
Manchester United are now set to complicate Arsenal’s chances of signing Lemar by joining the race for his signature.
Mourinho had identified Ivan Perisic as his top target but with a deal for the Croatian proving difficult to complete, the Red Devil boss could now turned his attention to Lemar, who represents a younger and a more talented target.
As if Monaco’s hard-ball stance isn’t enough, facing stiff competition for our top target would be bad news for Wenger. There is not a lot we can do at the moment except trying to reach an agreement with Monaco and convincing the player to snub the advances of other clubs.
Despite Monaco’s reluctance to sell, it is believed they have placed a huge price tag on the winger and could let him leave if their unreasonable demands are met. Manchester United have already shown they can spend big already and will definitely provide serious competition for Lemar’s signature if Mourinho becomes keen on the midfielder.
