Everton are monitoring Arsenal’s Calum Chambers and has earmarked the 20 year old as a potential replacement for John Stones, according to reports.
The Sun reports that Everton are ready to sign the former Southampton defender as the Merseyside club fear that John Stones could leave the club should big clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United renew their interest in the former Barnsley defender.
Stones was a subject of three bids from Chelsea last summer which Everton turned down despite the defender submitting a transfer request, however the club are not so confident of retaining the services of the young man that they signed from Barnsley for £3m in 2013 and are keeping an eye on Arsenal’s Chambers.
Chambers joined Arsenal in 2014 for a fee of £16m but the 20 year old has failed to impress at the Emirates.
Chambers is a versatile defender predominantly a center back, he can also play at right back and defensive midfield.
The report claims the 20 year old is frustrated at the Emirates due to his limited game time despite being able to play in a variety of positions. It is also claimed that Roberto Martinez will play the 20 year old in his preferred position should he move to Goodison park.
Chambers has played 27 games for the Gunners since joining the club in 2014.
