BBC journalist David Ornstein, has confirmed that Arsenal are in the transfer market to bring in more players. However, he added that new signings coming into the club will be determined by the players leaving this summer.
The journalist also claimed that despite Olivier Giroud featuring in preseason and kit lunch for the Gunners, the Frenchman could still leave this summer with his future “far from certain” at the moment.
Lucas Perez on the other hand has somewhat been confirmed to be leaving the Emirates Stadium this summer, and was even dropped from Arsenal’s preseason tour squad in other to finalise a move away.
While Alexis Sanchez’s future remains the “big question of the summer“.
Speaking yesterday on a BBC Sport Facebook Live broadcast via Arseblog, Ornstein said:
“They do still want to make more signings. Those will probably be determined by outgoings.
“Who could those outgoings be? Well Lucas Perez is likely to leave. Olivier Giroud too the rumours around him are still swirling despite Arsene Wenger says he wants to keep him.
“Will Alexis Sanchez go? That’s the big question of the summer and it’s certainly one that hasn’t been settled yet.”
Arsenal have currently exhausted their quota allowed for foreign players in a team in the Premier League and will need to sell at least two stars to even out. And with the club still looking to bring in other targets – probably non-homegrown players, they will need to sell more.
