Arsenal fans have been handed a blow ahead of the summer transfer window with news of veteran midfield star set to exit the club at the end of the season.
In what would be regarded by many arsenal fans as a sad but necessary exit, midfield maestro Tomas Rosicky is set to walk out the Emirates Stadium door at the end of the season.
This is according to the Daily Star, who claims Rosicky is almost certain to leave Arsenal at the end of the season.
Rosicky is a free agent at the end of the season and is expected to leave the Gunners in June. But the Czech Republic international is not short of new employees as the report also says a host of clubs outside England are interest in the talented midfielder.
Rosicky who will be 35-years-old in October, is expected to return to his hometown club in which he started his footballing career.
Rosicky’s boyhood club are reportedly desperate to land him, and are even willing to make him Czech league’s highest earner with a £26,000-a-week deal.
Sparta owner Daniel Kretinsky said: “It is not a secret that my big wish is his comeback to Sparta. The only question is when.”
Board member Jakub Otava said: “We would like to get Tomas back to Sparta and we believe that we will be successful. The question is when it would happen and that depends on him.
“Our interest is solid and long-term.”
Rosicky who has made over 170 appearances for Arsenal since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2006 has also had offers from several MLS clubs.
