Olivier Giroud has decided to put an end to his five year spell at Arsenal, according to reports.
The forward was signed from French club Montpeiller in 2012 and has gone on to become a key part of Arsenal’s first team over the years. He might have played his last competitive game at Arsenal as reports continue to link him with a return to his homeland.
Although Giroud signed a new deal at Arsenal in January, he has constantly been linked with a switch away from the Emirates due to Wenger’s decision to pursue a centre forward this summer.
Arsenal are believed to be closing in on Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette and Sunday Express via Tribal Football claims Giroud will demand to leave the Emirates as soon as his compatriot signs a contract at Arsenal.
West Ham United and Everton have been tipped to join Marseille in the race to sign the French man who has scored 65 goals in 152 appearances at the Emirates.
Since moving to Arsenal, Giroud has been a first team regular but last season was a difficult one for him as he had to make do with a place on the bench due to Alexis form.
Giroud has divided Gooners opinion about him in equal measure with his performances but he has been able to attract interest from a number of clubs with his superb contribution off the bench last term.
