Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.

Arsenal are preparing a shock transfer bid for Crystal palace midfielder James McAuthur, according to reports.

Wenger is lining up a surprise bid for the midfielder when the winter transfer window opens in January.

The midfielder has been in excellent form for Allan Pardew’s palace and his performances has been recognized by the French boss.

According to HITC, Arsene Wenger is looking to table a concrete offer for the midfielder in January, with the midfielder seen as a capable replacement for injured Francis Coquelin.

Arsenal scouts have reportedly given glowing reports about the midfielder to Arsene Wenger and the midfielder could cost the Gunners £10million.

The Scottish international joined the Eagles from Wigan Athletic in 2014 and was recently rewarded with a new deal last summer as a result of his superb performances.

McAuthur has made 46 premier league appearances for the Eagles since joining them last year and has scored four  league goals from his defensive midfield position.

Coquelin injured in the Gunners 1-1 draw against Norwich City last weekend and will be out until March next year.

Wenger could call on young center back Calum Chambers to fill in for Coquelin until January when he can sign a replacement.
