Arsenal completed a club record signing of Alexandre Lacazette for a fee believed to be in the region of £52m in total.
And naturally, club manager Arsene Wenger has only good words for the French striker who joined on a five years deal worth £200,000 a week, also making him the highest paid player ever in the club history.
The club have confirmed the deal and Wenger has said he is happy to have signed the 26-year-old goal machine.
“we are very happy to have Alexandre join our group,
He has shown over a number of years that he can score goals and that he is a very efficient finisher.
As well he has very interesting technical qualities and a strong character.
So he is a guy who is a great addition for us, and someone who will help us challenge at the top level this season.”
He is expected to travel with the group for Arsenal’s summer tour in Sydney this weekend and also be involved in the Emirates Cup later in the month.
Alexandre Lacazette is a product of the excellent Lyon academy and after making his debut in 2010, went on to score 129 goals in 275 appearances in all competitions for the club over 7 years before joining Arsenal.
Like gunners’ legend Theirry Henry, he started out as a winger before moving to the middle, and has been capped 11 times by the French national team. Arsenal fans would be hoping he has a similar impact in an Arsenal shirt as his legendary compatriot did.
