Everton remain interested in Olivier Giroud and are set to step up their interest in the French man next week.
Ronald Koeman wants to sign a striker after losing Lukaku to Manchester United and he has since identified Giroud as his top target.
However, Wenger has no interest in selling the French striker and is determined to rebuff the Toffees interest.
The player is said to be open to a move to the Goodison Park where he is certain of being the first choice striker – an opportunity he won’t get at the Emirates because of the presence of Lacazette but Wenger’s insistence he won’t be sold could complicate things for the Toffees.
And according to the Mirror via Sports Mole, Everton are keen to get a deal done in the coming days.
Koeman is prepared to spend up to £25m on Giroud but he knows it will be a difficult deal to pull off.
Everton do not want to be held to ransome and have now issued an ultimatum to the Gunners that they want a deal completed this week.
Wenger has been vocal about his desire to keep Giroud and he isn’t expected to change his stance because of Everton’s Ultimatum. In short it would even encourage Wenger to remain firm, knowing fully well, they will turn their attention elsewhere if he doesn’t bulge.
Lyon already know how difficult it is to negotiate Giroud’s transfer with Arsenal and would be in a better position to advice Everton chiefs. I don’t think Wenger will sanction a move unless the player asks to leave which he hasn’t done.
