Hull City manager Steve Bruce has revealed that Arsenal rejected the club’s approach to sign Isaac Hayden on a permanent deal in January, via the Daily Star.
Hayden joined Hull City on loan last summer and has since then impressed at the Tigers and the Championship side are now pushing to sign the player permanently.
Bruce has publicly stated his desire to sign the player on a permanent deal, the manager confirmed in January that his club was in discussion with the Gunners as regards making the deal permanent.
Bruce told the Hull Daily Mail in January: “I’ve already been on to Arsenal because I’d love to make it permanent if I could.”
“I’d make it permanent tomorrow if that was possible. I desperately want to hang on to him. In an ideal world he’d want to be playing every week but he’s started last weekend and again.
“He’s a very good young player, who’s progressing all the time.
The manager has now revealed that the Gunners rejected their approach as they weren’t interested in allowing the player make a permanent move to Hull City in January. However, the Championship club will try to tempt Arsenal into selling the player in the summer and Bruce is hopeful he will be successful this time around.
“They weren’t interested in January,” he said.
“But it is something that we will prolong and see what happens in the summer.”
Hayden has made 14 league appearances for the tigers this term.
