Arsenal have been given a clear run to sign Jean-Michel Seri, according to reports.
Seri is apparently one of Wenger’s top target this summer and it is believed that a concrete offer will be made when Nice complete their Champions League play-offs.
Arsenal’s chances of signing the midfielder were threatened last week when reports claimed Paris Saint Germain and Barcelona were monitoring his situation.
According to the Sun via the Daily Cannon, Arsenal have been given a clear run to sign Seri after interested clubs pulled out of the race to sign the midfielder.
Barcelona were unwilling to pay Seri’s €40m release clause and with Nice reluctant to lose him for less than that. The Spanish giants decided to turn to other targets.
On Saturday evening, it emerged that they are now closing in on former Tottenham midfielder, Paulinho for around the same fee, ruling out the prospect of returning for Seri.
PSG are believed to be lining up Seri as a replacement for Blaise Matuidi, should he leave the club. With Matuidi not close to leaving, they do not have any urgent need to buy the Côte d’Ivoire international.
Arsenal now have the chance to sign him and this shouldn’t be a difficult deal to complete as both the player and the club is willing to part ways, if their demands are met.
