Arsenal turned down the chance to sign Paris Saint Germain duo Lucas Moura and Blaise Matuidi, according to reports.
It’s no secret that Arsenal are in the market for a new centre midfielder and a winger but Wenger hasn’t been able to secure any of its target.
Along with the difficulty of securing it’s target, Arsenal are fighting hard to keep Alexis Sanchez who is stalling on a new contract.
PSG have been working on a deal for Sanchez but Wenger told them he doesn’t want to lose his star player.
According to a report in the Daily Cannon, PSG had offered Arsenal the chance to sign Matuidi and Moura in an attempt to convince Arsenal into selling Sanchez.
However, Arsenal rejected the offer and made it clear once again that the Chilean isn’t for sale.
Had Arsenal accepted the deal, Matuidi would have strengthened our midfield while Moura to replace Sanchez. However, it was the right decision to turn down the offer as Moura can’t fill Sanchez’s void.
Signing a player like Matuidi would make a lot of sense but you can’t strengthen your squad only to lose your best player in the process. That’s not strengthening but regression.
