Barcelona are not prepared to give up on signing Hector Bellerin, according to Spain based newspaper Sport via The Express.

The Catalan giants made moves to sign the defender last summer but Arsenal turned down their attempts. They didn’t stop there, they  continued courting the defender ahead of a move this summer but Arsenal were fast ahead of them and managed to tie the player to a new six-and-a-half year deal.

But the Spanish media are having none of it and have stepped up the Bellerin to Barcelona rumors in recent weeks by claiming the defender held talks with Wenger recently where he made it known that he wants to return to the Camp Nou. Wenger has now asked him to reconsider his decision and remain at Arsenal next season.

In a bid to take advantage of the situation, Barca will now launch a bid of €30m (£26m) for the defender.

The report claims the Catalan giants know that such fee would not be enough to convince Wenger into parting with Bellerin and they are treating it as an opening bid, with the hope of reaching a compromise with Arsenal.

Bellerin’s contract doesn’t expire until 2023 and Arsenal are under no pressure whatsoever to sell him, even if he wants out.

It is also unlikely that the defender is pushing for a return to Barcelona when he publicly denied such rumors just last week.

The Spanish media are known for tapping up players for their clubs, just like they did with Cesc Fabregas in 2011 and they are at their game with Bellerin again but this time, they are set to fail.
