Alexis Sanchez was all smiles on his return to Arsenal training this week, but the forward’s future is still unresolved after he had his heart set on joining Manchester City on deadline day.
With Arsenal keen to revive their £92 million bid for Thomas Lemar as Sanchez’s replacement, The Sun now reports that the Chilean could be offered to Monaco as a potential makeweight in a January transfer.
Sanchez has made it clear he won’t be signing a new contract before his current deal expires next summer, so this might be Arsenal’s last chance of securing some value from the 28-year-old’s departure.
Monaco apparently considered offering £45 million for Sanchez during the summer and, while Manchester City are expected to make another bid when the window reopens, Arsene Wenger remains reluctant to sell to a Premier League rival.
