Arsenal and Chelsea are set to be slapped with transfer bans by FIFA, says report in Spain. The two London clubs could face a punishment alongside Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and other big clubs in Europe according to AS.
UEFA Champions League holders; Barcelona are nearing the end of their two years ban for breaking the rules in the signing of players under 18- and it’s been suggested that English clubs are guilty of the same practice.
Barcelona attempted to set aside their ban with the court for arbitration for sports but were denied- so if the ban is applied to the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea, it is thought that avenue would be closed for them as well. FIFA decided to ban Real Madrid for two transfer windows in July but have not yet imposed the sanctions.
Chelsea would be the least affected if such ban is imposed on them; the Blues already have over 30 players out on loan and will be eligible to call on any of these players that is qualified to feature in the first team squad.
Arsenal and Real Madrid cannot say the same and such ban would hamper their chances of competing for the signature of the best players in the transfer market.
