Everton, Marseille and West Ham are all set to battle for the signature of Olivier Giroud, according to reports.
Giroud is being linked with a move away from the Emirates amid reports that Wenger is keen on signing a new striker.
After losing his place in the first team to Alexis Sanchez last season, Giroud doesn’t want to spend another season on Arsenal’s bench and he is reportedly open to an exit if Arsenal signs a new striker.
West Ham United and Marseille have been linked with the striker but Everton have now joined the race to sign the 30 year old.
According to The Sun via Football Insider, Ronald Koeman has made Giroud his number one target to replace Romelu Lukaku – who is Man Utd bound.
Reports in France are claiming Marseile have offered €28m to sign the striker while West Ham United are prepared to spend up to £20m on the French man.
Everton will also have enough money to shell out if they succeed in squeezing out the £67m they are demanding for Lukaku.
Giroud’s Premier League experience will come in handy for Everton and his tally of 14 goals in 40 appearances in all competitions makes him an ideal target for the Toffees.
However, Wenger who is desperate to have a strong squad at his disposal next season wants to hold on to the striker. It remains to be seen whether Giroud will force an exit. I hope he doesn’t because we will need a stronger squad depth to successfully challenge for the title next term.
