Arsenal seem to have overtaken Southampton to emerge as the selling club of the summer, as the latter have refused to let go of their star defender Virgil van Dijk despite keen interest from the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool.
A stark contrast is currently obtainable at the Emirate stadium where they are set to sell a number of their key players in Alexis Sanchez, Shkodran Mustafi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The latter has been a subject of intense speculations, with Liverpool and Chelsea reported to be keen on the England international.
The 24-year-old was earlier reported to be close to a Chelsea switch, which threw their fans into frenzy. However, it is reported that Chamberlain has turned down the Blues, as he favours a move to Liverpool though.
BBC reports that that the versatile attacker prefers a move to Anfield as he is assured of regular playing time under Jurgen Klopp’s tutelage. Liverpool can boast of one of the youngest squad in the English Premier League, and Klopp’s squad selection has always favoured young players since his days at Borussia Dortmund.
Chamberlain calls the shots here since he is contracted to Arsenal until next summer and could yet leave on a bosman transfer if he eventually stays at the club.
