Arsene Wenger has revealed that Jack Wilshere could still be allowed to leave the Emirates this summer.
Wilshere is one of those whose futures at Arsenal is under discussion and with one year left on his contract and no new deal forthcoming, he could be allowed to leave the club before the end of the transfer window.
He’s been linked with West Ham and Sampdoria this summer but recent reports suggested Wilshere wants to stay at Arsenal and is working hard to prove to Wenger that he can still be useful to our team next season.
However, the boss has now confirmed that Wilshere could still be allowed to leave the club this month, but admitted that nothing has been decided yet.
“That decision is not completely made,” Wenger said, when asked about Wilshere’s future.
“I want him to have a chance to play somewhere as well. We have to decide that a bit later. I wanted first him to come back, he is coming out of a fracture. It is the first week he is back in full training and we have to sit down together and see where we go from there.
“I gave him a start at a very young age. He has gone through difficult times, I want him to have the career he can have and I am quite open on that. He has the talent to be regular, but he has to come back to competition in a consistent way.”
From the boss’ comments, it is obvious that the club will allow Wilshere leave if it thinks it is best for his development.
Injuries have played a key part in stalling the midfielder’s career over the years and he will definitely need to be playing to get back to his best. The chances of doing so at Arsenal is very slim due to competition for midfield places and also our chasing the Premier League title, making an exit more likely.
