Borussia Monchengladbach’s midfield sensation Granit Xhaka has agreed personal terms with Arsenal, reports suggest.
The Daily Star sometime ago reported that Wenger has been in negotiations with the German outfit after an initial offer of £24 million was lodged. The same outlet now report that the Gunners have reached an agreement with the midfielder regarding his personal terms. Though Wenger’s offer for the midfield star is £11million way of his valuation by the German side, it is believed that the £20million release clause in his contract which can be activated from next year could force the Bundesliga side into agreeing a deal.
The Swiss star has in the past admitted to desiring a move to England.
In an interview with German outlet Tor Fabrik, the Borussia Monchengladbach captain revealed his desire to one day play in the Premier League “I have a childhood dream, that is the Premier League,” he said. “Whether I play two or a hundred games in England, I would like to eventually make this childhood dream come true.”
After which he admitted that he’d love to pick Coquelin’s no.34 shirt at Arsenal should he make the move to the Emirates.
“That was my first professional number at Basel,” Xhaka told German publication Tor Fabrik, when asked about the significance of his shirt number. “It’s even tattooed on my back. I would also like to wear it in the future.”
He added: “It was also here in Gladbach, with Amin Younes [who had the number before Dhaka]. And at Arsenal Coquelin has it. I’ve spoken with him, he would like to take another number!”
