Arsenal have a new competitor for the services of Riyad Mahrez, according to reports.
Mahrez is said to be a target of Arsenal and Wenger is prepared to table a huge bid for the services of the 25 year old. According to the Sun via Sports Review, Arsenal are not alone in the race to sign Mahrez as Manchester United are also keen on the midfielder’s services.
The report also added that Manchester United may likely lose out on a deal to sign Mahrez due to lack of Champions League football; something which only the Gunners and Leicester City can offer him at the moment.
Leicester City are determined to keep hold of the midfielder and would offer him a new deal worth around £100,000 a week. But should the Algeria international push for a move, Leicester will demand a fee above £30m for his services.
Mahrez remains coy on his future as he has refused to rule out a move away from the League Champions. When questioned about a possible move to Arsenal he said:
“It is flattering to hear, as I said nothing is agreed, nothing is done.” “We will see. For the moment I have not made a decision. We will see. It is possible that I stay, it is possible that I leave. We will see.”
Mahrez won the PFA player of the year and was one of Leicester City’s best player last season.
