BREAKING: Star On His Way Out Of Madrid, Arsenal Favourites To Complete Deal

Real Madrid youngster, Lucas Silva, is reportedly on his way out of the Bernabeu after only six months with the Spanish giants, with Arsenal said to be the favourites to snap up the defensive midfielder.

According to Monday’s issue of Spanish newspaper AS, Real Madrid are willing to let Lucas Silva move on from Los Blancos after an unimpressive six months at the La Liga titans. The talented defensive midfielder arrived in Madrid last January for an fee estimated of €14m from Brazilian champions Cruzeiro, but the 22-year-old only went on to make eight appearances for the team as Real Madrid watched their bitter rivals, Barcelona, claim their second Treble in under five years.

Lucas Silva was reportedly set for a loan move to Porto during the same window the Brazilian under-20 international made the move to Madrid in order to gain more first team experience, however no move materialised and the 22-year-old found himself sitting on the substitutes bench.

Manchester United and Premier League champions Chelsea are also reportedly interested in Lucas Silva, however it looks as Arsenal are the favourites to sign the midfielder if the rumours are true.

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, is an admirer of Lucas Silva, and Real Madrid need to sell one of their non-EU players before the window shuts, meaning the Los Blancos could be willing to let Lucas Silva go.

Lucas Silva is a physical, swift and commanding defensive midfielder who enjoys keeping the ball moving, spraying the ball around from the midfield area and being at the right place to help out a team-mate in the tricky position.

With these qualities, it’s no surprise that the Cruzeiro fans dubbed Lucas Silva as “the new Pirlo”. These qualities are also in line with the ones that create the basis of how Arsenal play, and with Mikel Arteta aging and Mathieu Flamini inching closer out the exit door, a move to the Emirates is not far from a fantasy.
