Arsene Wenger is confident of signing AS Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar, according to reports
The French international was one of Monaco’s finest performers last season, helping his team win the French league title for the first time in 21 years.
The playmaker who scored 14 goals and 17 assists last season is reportedly open to a move to the Emirates, after learning of Wenger’s interest.
However, Monaco are reluctant to sell and have already rejected two bids worth £30m and £40m from Arsenal for the midfielder already.
Despite the French club’s stance, Wenger is determined to push on and is now said to be preparing a third bid worth around £45m.
The Metro claims as Wenger prepared his third bid, he is confident that Lemar wants to join Arsenal.
Wenger sees Lemar as a perfect replacement for Alexis Sanchez who is pushing for a move away from the Emirates.
Some reports are claiming Arsenal have already agreed a long-term contract worth £90,000 per week with the forward and now only have to agree a fee with Monaco.
Monaco are expected to continue playing hardball with Lemar after losing several of their stars but they may be helpless if the forward pushes for a move to Arsenal.
