Wenger has admitted that he is open to making new signings in January after seeing his squad
decimated by injuries this season
Arsenal are in need of a defensive midfield player since first choice defensive midfielder picked up an injury and would be out for 3 months.
Francis Coquelin has been the rock behind the back four for the Gunners but picked up an injury in the Gunners 2-1 defeat to West Brom.
Arsene Wenger has identified Portuguese highly rated defensive midfielder, William Carvalho as one of his ideal players to replace the injured Coquelin.
The 23 years old has been heavily linked with a switch to the Gunners in recent transfer windows but nothing has materialised for the Portugal international.
William’s contract with Sporting Lisbon expired in 2018 and he admitted that he is fond of Arsenal because of Thierry Henry, a player with whom he always enjoys watching. Premier league sides Chelsea and Liverpool are also reported to be interested in the combative midfielder with French giants also holding firm interest.
