Arsenal are preparing a world record £125m bid for Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe, according to reports.
Arsene Wenger is a big fan of the striker, having been following his development since he was 16 and the boss is now preparing an official bid for the young man after his stunning performances for Monaco last season.
The Gunners have already had an £87m bid rejected, with Monaco insisting they have no intention of selling the striker but that hasn’t deterred Wenger who is keen to pair Mbappe with Lacazette next season.
According to a report in The Daily Mirror, Wenger will launch a world record bid for Mbappe this week.
The report claims Wenger is determined to use his French connections to beat Real Madrid and Manchester City to the striker and have already contacted the striker’s father.
Wenger has apparently told Mbappe that his son will be better off at the Emirates than at the Bernabeu or anywhere else. Arsenal are now readying a world record £125m bid for the striker which would blow other rivals out of the race.
Monaco want to keep the striker but Leonardo Jardim recently admitted in an interview that they might not be able to stop anyone who wants to leave the club this summer.
However, Mbappe is not the only Monaco player on Arsenal’s radar. Thomas Lemar is also a top target and the French champions have already rejected one bid from Arsenal for the winger.
Wenger is expected to push on for both signing, with the hope, he would get his targets before the start of the new season.
