Arsenal continue to face challenges in its attempt to sign Thomas Lemar, according to reports.
Wenger had since identified the winger as a priority target but Monaco are unwilling to sell. They have already rejected two bids worth £30m and £40m from Arsenal, insisting the midfielder won’t be sold this summer.
Despite Monaco being difficult to negotiate with, Wenger isn’t prepared to give up on the winger and has apparently returned with a third bid worth £45m.
According to GFFN via The Daily Cannon, Monaco are yet to respond to Arsenal’s new bid as they consider it a complete waste of time.
Monaco are unwilling to lose any other member of their title winning squad and it will now take an outrageous offer to force them into parting with Lemar.
The report claims Monaco will only change their minds if Arsenal meet their valuation but they wouldn’t reveal their price tag so Wenger won’t be encouraged to splash the cash.
A report on the Daily Cannon is quoted as saying:
“If Arsenal make a third offer that is considerably improved, then perhaps things could change, but the situation looks very bleak for the London club.
“Vadim Vasilyev keeps his cards close to his chest, which is perhaps the only hope that Arsenal fans can take at the time of writing in their pursuit of Thomas Lemar.”
Arsenal’s pursuit of Lemar looks like what will drag on for many more weeks but considering we need to get our business done as early as possible, I think it’s high time we started looking at other options.
Riyad Mahrez has been mentioned as an alternative but the Algerian is in talks with Roma. Wenger will need to act fast so we don’t end up losing at both ends.
