Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has revealed he will consider his future at the end of the season if he doesn’t get enough playing time this season.

Chamberlain joined Arsenal from Southampton with huge potential in 2011 but the midfielder has been unable to live up to expectations five years after.

He was heavily linked with a move away from the club in the summer transfer window but he opted to stay and fight for his future this season. Wenger decided to give him one last chance to impress but Theo Walcott’s superb form this season has made things tougher for him.

He is currently behind Walcott in the pecking order, which has so far limited his chances this year. The 23 year old has now revealed he will reconsider his future if he doesn’t play enough games this season.

In a recent interview, the winger was asked if he had considered his position at the club, he replied:

“Yeah I’d be lying, if I said it hadn’t crossed my mind. I’m not happy when I’m not playing (as with any player).

“[But] my focus is completely and utterly on playing for Arsenal and trying to get in the team. My sole aim is to help Arsenal, I love being at Arsenal, but as you said, there is that in my mind where I do want to get more game time and there comes a time when you have to reevaluate whether I’m better off here or there. I’ll do that at the end of the season and see what’s happening.”

Chamberlain is already into the penultimate year of his contract and it is believed he will not be offered a new deal if he doesn’t impress this year. The winger will be hoping to impress Wenger in training, so he can force his way into the starting xi.

However, we think he doesn’t necessarily need to displace Walcott from the starting xi for him to be successful, should he show a certain level of improvement from previous seasons, he could be offered a new deal that will keep him with us for a longer time.
