Arsenal are set to be handed a major blow in the pursuit of long time midfield target, after reports that fellow Premier League rivals have made the player their prime target in January.
The Gunners could be set to miss out on the signing of one of Europe’s most quality midfield ace William Carvalho in the winter after Chelsea have made the player a key target in January.
According to popular Italian media outlet TMC, Blues boss Jose Mourinho wants Carvalho to help spice up his ailing midfield.
Carvalho who has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in the past three transfer window is also reported to be a key winter target for other top European clubs, including PSG and Liverpool.
The tough tackling Sporting Lisbon star caught the eye of several clubs across Europe some 3 seasons ago and has since grown into a proven defensive midfield figure for both club and country.
Chelsea have made a horrendous start to the defence of their Premier League title and Mourinho has singled his countryman out as the key to solving his problems at Stamford Bridge.
This news would come as a big blow to Arsenal fans who are expecting Arsene Wenger to bring in another defensive midfielder cover in the form of Carvalho to assist Francis Coquelin.
