Newcastle United are struggling to sign Kieran Gibbs and Lucas Perez because of their strict wage ceiling.

Both players have been told to find a new club by Arsenal, and Newcastle hold a strong interest in the pair but they haven’t gone even close to signing any of them.

In Perez’s case, Benitez is keen on signing the Spaniard but his club are only willing to sign him on loan while Arsenal wants a permanent deal.

Just four players have joined the newly promoted Premier League side this summer and that is beginning to frustrate Benitez who is keen to bolster his team.

As if their inability to spend isn’t bad enough, IBtimes via the Daily Cannon claim Newcastle are unwilling to pay any player more than £70,000 a week.

This strict wage cap has now prevented them from signing the Gunners duo, who are not prepared to take a pay-cut to leave the Emirates.

Gibbs who currently earns £80,000 per week at Arsenal doesn’t want to accept anything less at his new club while Perez is reportedly demanding above £70,000 per week.

Although it isn’t just Newcastle who are struggling to pay both players what they want but the Magpies strict salary budget and reluctance to compromise means they have little or no chance of signing the duo.

Arsenal may have to reduce their asking price to facilitate the sale of its unwanted players to other clubs.
